Princess Yasmina is the daughter of King Osric of Zamora, who left to pursue Thulsa Doom and his snake cult after being seduced by him only to become a close ally of Conan's once liberated.

Yasmina is portrayed by Valérie Quennessen in the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian.

Physical description and Personality[]

Yasmina is a beautiful woman in her early twenties (at least 23). With long flowing chestnut hair, fair skin, and deep blue eyes, her youthful beauty seems to catch the eyes of every man, including Conan, who is stunned speechless by her appearance. The cult leader Thulsa Doom sought her out to join his followers. During her time as a member of the cult, she was made to wear skimpy and revealing attire.

By King Osric's descriptions, she is a just and compassionate woman, but that all changed when she was seduced into joining the snake cult. When first encountered, she is a devoted zealot of Thulsa Doom's cult, completely under his control and sway, eager to do whatever he asked of her, even threatening her saviors that her master would come back to claim her and severely punish them for defying him. Even as the control started to wane, she tried remaining loyal to the wizard, but that all changed when Thulsa Doom attempted to execute her, like he did one of her saviors, just to keep anyone else from taking her again. With her faith shattered, she finally broke free of his influence and sided with Conan, the two now determined to bring down both the wizard and his cult.

Rescue and Revenge[]

Princess Yasmina is first seen by Conan during a congregation of Thulsa Doom's followers, and he finds he cannot take his eyes off of her until Thulsa Doom himself arrives. She watches as he is exposed and tortured for information, still under the leader's spell. After Conan is saved by his friends, she is seen again at her master's side observing an orgy of his followers in his temple, not even noticing when Thulsa Doom becomes a snake and slithers away just before Conan's attack. Valeria, one of Conan's comrades, ends up knocking her out in the skirmish and carrying her to safety when the temple starts to be destroyed. As they escape with her, Thulsa Doom's hold over the princess appears to be waning slowly.

After Valeria's death and funeral, still under some control, Yasmina is restrained to a rock to keep her from trying to help the cult, even as she maintains a belief that they will come for her and kill her rescuers. She watches in shocked amazement as Conan, Subotai, and Akiro manage to kill all of her former master's henchmen.

When all attempts made by his men to stop Conan's interference have failed, Thulsa Doom attempts to have Yasmina sacrificed so no one can have her. Conan comes to her rescue with the aid of Subotai and Akiro, saving her before her life is taken by one of Thulsa Doom's serpent arrows. After her near-death experience, she manages to fully break free of the dark wizard's spell and joins with Conan.

The princess then pretends to be a still loyal servant of Thulsa Doom too fool others while Conan infiltrates the cult once again, killing every one of the guards and soldiers in secret as her presence distracts them. She then watches in silence as Conan personally confronts the cult leader who tries to put the warrior under his sway like he did the princess. After the fall of Thulsa Doom, all the cultists (free of the wizard's control and influence) abandon the temple until only the princess is left. The princess then watches with joyful relief as her savior destroys the temple so no one may use it or fall victim to it ever again. Yasmina bows to Conan in gratitude as he approaches her, who then has her rise, and holds a hand out to her which she accepts before they embrace as the temple collapses behind them. Together, they begin their trek to her father's kingdom; hand-in-hand. It is heavily implied that they grew mutual feelings for each other.

Powers and Abilities[]

It is unknown if Yasmina has any fighting capabilities or powers, before or during her time in the snake cult, but she did possess great skill in seduction and infiltration. She helped to distract the guards and soldiers serving Thulsa Doom while also using their belief that she was still part of them to deceive them into a false sense of security while Conan killed them one by one.

Relationships[]

Conan[]

When she first met the Cimmerian warrior during one of the snake cult's communions, Yasmina and Conan locked eyes with each other, taken by each other's looks. After he took her away from the cult, as the influence on her began to wane, she warned him that Thulsa Doom would punish them for taking her, yet did not show any real negative feelings towards the warrior. She watched his skills with amazement as he cut down their pursuers, impressed by his skill and fortitude. After he saved her from Thulsa Doom's execution attempt to ensure no one else could have her, the cult's influence on her had completely broken and she felt truly indebted to Conan for saving and freeing her.

After the death of Valeria, Yasmina became furious with the cult for using her and taking the life of someone dear to her savior. Purpose clear, she personally joined Conan in confronting the cult again. Once more infiltrating their ranks and pretending to still be under Thulsa Doom's sway, she distracted all the wizard's warriors with her presence and helped Conan slaughter them one by one. After the Cimmerian warrior slew the dark wizard, she helped the freed crowd gaze upon his deed as they dispersed (disillusioned with their ruler after his death).

Once everyone else was gone, Yasmina watched as Conan destroyed the temple of the man who caused both of them and so many others much grief before bowing to him in reverence as he approached. Conan bid her to rise and held out a hand to her with a grateful smile, which she accepted, silently confirming their bond and growing feelings for one another in their respective suffering. Both then left the temple, hand-in-hand, as it collapsed around them as they ventured into the night; free of the darkness at last.

King Osric[]

While they are never shown interacting on screen, it is confirmed that Yasmina was very close with her father who loved his daughter dearly. He was devastated and distressed when she was seduced into joining Thulsa Doom's snake cult. The king was so determined to save her that trusted Conan and his friends to rescue his daughter. He was likely overjoyed and grateful when Conan returned with her.
