Kalanthes is a priest of Ibis in the Nemedian city of Hanumar, and the deadly enemy of the Stygian wizard Thoth-Amon. Just as the god Ibis has fought Set "since the first dawn of the earth", so Kalanthes has fought the priests of Set his entire life.[1]
In the Ace paperback version of "The God in the Bowl", the name was inexplicably changed by editor L. Sprague de Camp to Caranthes.[2]
