Ka nama kaa lajerama is a shibboleth in the form of a spoken phrase, which is uttered in order to identify whether a person is a human being or a Serpent Man in magical disguise. Due to the construction of a Serpent Man's mouth and jaws, these monsters are unable to speak the phrase. Thus in this way, their true natures may be revealed. The words may possibly be translated as "the snake that speaks", since Brule spoke both phrases when confirming his identity to Kull as well as the identity of Kull himself.[1]
