Gonda was the commander of the Verulian army during the reign of King Kull of Valusia. Along with the Valusian traitor Dondal, he was one of the leaders of the Verulian conspiracy to overthrow Kull, orchestrated by the Verulian king (who is not named). Gonda was slain by Kull in a battle at the Accursed Gardens two miles east of the Valusian capital. The deaths of Gonda and the other conspirators resulted in the failure of the plot.[1]
Gonda was the name originally intended for the character by Robert E. Howard [1] but was changed by later editors to Phondar.[2]
